Yat was started by a group of people living on different continents who needed to communicate. But it wasn’t easy. We tried it all. Email is OK, but it’s not immediate enough. You send a message and then wait … and wait … and wait for a reply. IM is great for short conversations if you’re sitting at your desk, but we’re a mobile bunch. Text messaging almost worked – it’s simple and easy to use (if you don’t mind waiting around for a reply), but we found it a bit limiting as far as features go, and it was definitely hitting the wallet too hard.

We decided to solve the problem ourselves – by creating Yat. Yat is a mobile messaging application that allows you to have real-time conversations – with anyone, anywhere in the world. Yat also gives you some extra features you really need to communicate effectively, like the ability to send longer messages, chat with groups, include pictures or video in your messages, add emotion and display your location and status.

Communication is global, and so is Yat. We want to keep things simple and affordable for everyone, so we’re charging just 1¢ for every message sent – no matter who you send the message to. We’ll also give you cash back for sharing Yat with your friends.
